Badge Backings, Hackles and Plumes for sale

Many military units wear coloured backings behind their cap badges - mainly on berets.  Most Scottish units wear tartan patches on Tam o'Shanters.
Accoutrements such as plumes are made of horse-hair and used on Bearskin caps and Busby hats.  Hackles are made from coloured feathers and worn behind the cap badge.

Not only do these improve the display of a collection, the embellishments are collectable items in their own right, as many are linked to events in the history of the unit.  Most backings are hard to obtain as the Melton cloth and tartans are made from top quality military-specification materials, not normally available from retail shops.
